Though. There should be something Sinister on the deepest level of the Catacombs since it has been pretty much closed off for years.

There was a certain level of evil down there when it was open and the Monks in the area kept it in check.

BUT it's closed now.

Evil could have manifested itself in the form of something Sinister that has plans and ambitions to break free.

IT wants to take over the rest of Ascalon since it has been desolated and plagued with despair.

Murssat magics has also gotten its attention since the arrival of the Krytan camp outside of Ascalon has fueled its interest in the foregin land. It might want to head there next, taking everything in its wake.

Grenth helps the Ascended to take down the menace because he is also afraid that it can grow stronger than he is. IT could take over his domain and use its dark aura to eventually rule the world and beyond.

Yer... on second thoughts 50 quests is a bit extreme but you know Sorrows Furnace was huge and had a decent number... Maybe 15 quests instead with 1 big quest (out of 5), and 2 smaller ones (out of the other 10) randomly spawning

Kasha Blackblood: I greatly thank you for helping me put Oberan out of his misery. The searing did much to scar him emotionaly. He lost all family that he had and vowed to restore them. In his delerious mind he thought he could resurect them but not as corpses but rather, as living beings again. In his insanity, Oberan explored deep into the catacombs and experimented many spells upon unsuspecting corpses, defiling they're ancient resting grounds. Now many vengeful wraiths and corpses wander the catacombs seeking to vent their eternal anger upon the living. Help me put an end to their misery and send them back to the rift where they may rest in peace.

Monster Levels: 12-16--The level 16 monster would be a boss that allows access to a crypt in the catacombs that could be warped to. This crypt would give access for more quests to explore deeper into the catacombs.

Later quest

Main Quest:
A Long Lost Friend--Given by Kasha Blackblood

Kasha Blackblood: Some disturbing news has reached my ears. It seems that Oberan is not truly dead. His heart and mind became so twisted that dying once is not enough for him. One of my apprentices has come to telling me that he saw Oberan carrying a small child with him deep into the inner sanctums of the catacombs. From my apprentices description I believe this child to be my dear friend Sarah's child, Gwen. I ask that you come to help me save my dear friends only child. We must hurry though, it appears that Oberan is in haste to resurect his family and moves with otherworldly swifteness to accomplish his means, even if it means sacrificing a living being. I shall accomapany you so that I may be able to seal Oberan's cursed soul in the Mists for eternity.

Quest details:
You have 25 minutes to reach Oberan and save Gwen. A cutscene at the begining of the quest shows you Oberan surrounded by some of his undead minions around a dark alter swirling with dark magic. If you manage to make it to Oberan before the time limit ends you fight him. Oberan would be a necromancer boss around level 28-30 with the cap of the new elite minion skill, Animate Flesh Golem. Upon his death a cutscene shows Kasha performing a ritual to seal Oberan's soul into the Mists but before she can finish the ritual a flash comes from the alter and a dark shadow comes forth from it. The Shadow pulls Oberans soul into the void and leaves you with a daunting message.
--"While you may have thrawted my first attempts at coming forth from the Void, let it be known that it is not over. Not know and not ever. I shall find a way to return and return this world to the Darkness that it once was before those cursed Gods came and sealed me away. My titans have already crossed over and have started assimilating the land into what it once was. My Shadows have already become part of this land and will never leave. They have already started a war with Balthazaar and his Eternal Army. This will never be over!"--

If you do not reach her in time the quest does not end, but takes a intresting twist. However it is optimal that you reach her in time to reap full benifits from the quest. The twist would be that, if you are somewhere in the catacombs a cutscene plays showing Oberan sacrificing Gwen to the void and making a deal with shadowy figure to bring forth a creature from the void that will allow for Oberan's family to be reunited with him (at least, thats what he thinks). This creature would be of a high level and hard to kill. Upon killing the creature a cutscene plays showing the creature dying and pulling Oberan into the void with it. A cutscene follows showing Kasha examing the alter. A few seconds later the alter flares to life and a Dark Shadow delivers a message. (message is same as above)

Monster Levels: 22-24
Boss Levels: 25-29

How do Gwen items relate:

If you have all of the Gwen items in you inventory at the end of the quest you recieve a special bonus. This bonus may be monetary given just to you or a special rare skinned offhand item in the shape of a Gwen item. The item would have good stats, like Green Items.

Main Quest
Sealing the Void:--Given by Kasha Blackblood

Kasha Blackblood: While I was examing the alter that Oberan built I read many runes that where thought to be extinct and known only to a select few. The language they are written in is the High Speech that is written in the lost scrolls of Orr which I learned while under the instruction of the Orrian Vizier. What I read on the alter disturbed me greatly and that mysterious creatures warning only confirmed my suspicions. The creature that gave us the warning was sealed away by the Gods countless ages ago when this world was in its infancy. The Gods, lead by Dwayna, sealed this creature and his minions into the Void to never be seen again. This does not seem so anymore. It appears that Oberan uncovered a lost scroll of Orr detailing the creature. In his madness he must have thought that this creature, with its power to stand up to the Gods, would help him in his goal. He constructed a alter that would help release the creature and wrote the runes that would release it upon the land again. I must destroy this alter. I feel a personal obligation to do so, seeing as I am Oberans former Master and the one who taught him the High Speech of the Gods. We must hurry, if the creature can come through the door himself, even if just for a few seconds, then I am sure that he has sent many of his mininos to protect the alter so that he may be released. We must hurry!

Quest Details:
There is no time limit for this quest. All you do is fight through high level enemies until you reach the alter. Upon reaching the alter a cutscene shows the alter radiating with power and a large shadowy creature stepping from the Void. Kasha screams that you are too late and must hurry and destroy the creature while he is still weak from the cross deminsional trip. Now you fight the creature (he is about level 30). Upon defeating him a cutscene shows the creature getting sucked back into the Void. After a little breather and some time to talk to you Kasha starts to perform a ritual to destroy the alter once and for all. Before finishing she looks at your party and says Goodbye. A bright flash takes up the screen and when visibility returns you see Kashas ghost hovering in front of you. She tells you that destroying the alter required a human sacrifice. She also says that the reason she did not tell you this was because she felt that you would refuse to take her along because she knew that you would know she would sacrifice herself. A moment of silence follows and she slowly dissapears. Before fully dissapearing she says that she goes now to find her place in the Hall of Heroes.

Monster and Boss Levels: same as previous quest.

Side Quests:

A Dark Gathering--Given by NPC in Crypt

NPC: Some disturbing news has reached my ears. It seems that a gathering of undead is rallying around a creature from the void. I am unsure why these undead are gathering around this creature seeing as they usually are at odds with them. Please find and discover what this creature is attempting to do.

Quest Details:
Pretty much a cut and dry quest that involves you killing all of the creatures in your path until you reach the meeting place. Upon reaching it a small cutscene shows a conversation going on between the Void creature and some undead. He appears to be giving away some essential defensive positions and how and where to best attack them. The converstation is cut short because the creature notices you presence and commences attacking you. Live action takes over and you kill the creature. Cutscene follows showing you saying that you must pass this information to *insert NPC name* that you have a traitor in your midst.

Only problem with Gwen in the catacombs is that an item similar to "Gwen's Broken Flute," the Tattered Girl's Cape, appears in the vicinity of Fisherman's Haven/Sanctum Cay. Apparently Gwen made it at least that far . . .

And by the flaming blazes did Raging Cadavers drop a lot of Sephis Axes.

I did like the catacombs, in fact when i had them mapped out in my head I'd often use them to go from Folly to Hills or Abbey. I would also like to see what happened to the Wizards Tower and Foibles Fair.

but to another sigestion...
no, no NO!!!
i am sick and tired of people saying we can have this or that, but ONLY! if your accended...
for goddess sake, GET THAT ACENDED CRAP OUT OF YOUR HEADS!
*ahem*

a lot of people have not only trouble acending, but refuse to get run to this point, or even to be ran thru the ascetion process.
why should they be forced to do this simply because they want to take part or even enter somewhere as wonderfull as the Cats

acepted, to do some of the last, most important or hardeds quests, one should be ascended.
however, simply barring acess to the coolest part of the game (imho) just cause a person hasnt managed to get that character ascended yet is childish.
it smacks of poesering and the 'im it, your s**t' thinking that needs to be goten rid of in a game like this.

and to the 50 quests is hard...well, we have just had 3 from someone already...so long as the idea is posted, theres no reason why the dev team cant just add it in....its just mainly dialoge, some scripting to make items/quest info/update/drops/monster ect work, they can do them quite fast (like with the kurzic/luxon encampment and the Lovers quests, they appeared and were done very fast in realtime implementation_

i mean, not all quests have to be Huge, Epic proportion jobbies.....theres stuff like...

i lost my...teddy/brother/sister/money/provisions/wepon/dead body/relative/master/student/party members/those i was sworn/paid to protect.......

can you take.....item/person/group/message/provisions/creature...to this spot....

please, i need help!......any of the above mixed with another of the above

*nudge* hey mate, wanna make some cash fast?.....steal from/take stolen goods to.....

loveletter/message/food/item delivery to

and thats just a few.....some that are not in depth, just little random seeming quests.....can appear at any level....

i definately say we need to be able to see where were going....
however, you *could* alow each level to randomly change, so that the map changed each 24 hours, or weekly....but the map poits would remain, so that oyu can map to whatever level...or if you *have!* to do it the hard way, out of 20 levels going downwards, every 5 levels theres an outpost/town and you can map from one to the other, but at 20 there should be an end town and one more map afterwards.

its not realy fair to make folks trail down there for hours, only to have them get kicked just befor the end, simply cause their errored out or have to go to bed/work/whatever.

i am the one who made that petition and i just registered so i do not always have to send mortez for telling you things i could tell you myself ;-)

first of all: thanks to all who already subscribed in our petition. we just reached 150 entrys and the number of people signing up is increasing ^^ go on this way and we have a real chance of bringing this to anet's attention.

secondly @quote: i totally agree with what you are saying. the basic idea of this whole thing was to make a new area that brings fun to both, medium-lvl characters and highlvl characters. we thought this should be assembled by putting in layers which are getting more and more difficult.
that is the basic idea! not to bring fun to all the highlvl chars ... that would just end in another UW where everyone is searching the best possible group for farming. that is not what we want!

last but not least i just want to tell you that someone asked gaile if she heared about this petition the last time she was in lion's arch. she said she heard about it but doesn't know any details about this yet.
i think that is not bad for a petition that's only just 3 days old by now ;-)

so keep on signing guys! i will write to you in case any updates are made to the petition (which reminds me ... if anyone of you has a good idea what should be changed/added to the petition-website please tell me ... i have no ideas left and am kinda bored now )

I love this idea, I think its deeply atmospheric part of the game with some wonderful scenery that is totally wasted as you can't see it for xx% of the time you play. What a waste of artistic talent let alone a great place for us to kick butt.

My idea..... Zombie run.. i want SWARMS of zombie death trying to over run me and my party. I want to have to battle to the Zombie master and slaughter him before we in turn have our bodies used as Zombie food. It doesn't have to be the entire area... maybe just a quest like the titan missions activate

This is also a great chance to explore the lore of Ascalon, perhaps ancient artifacts that date way before the pre-seering age reveal a darker past, a darker history, of Ascalon and Kryta, how these two mighty kingdoms may once be united...



... and the greatest part about going into a cave.... is coming out the otherside, and find yourself on the otherside of the world. Near the watchtower coast, drenched in sweat and blood, our warriors have returned ... victorously.
I really don't think it needs to be an ascended area as there are 3 of those already.Those are the UW,FoW and TomPs.I would but lvl24 charrs and stuff way up north in Dragans Gullet.I would even suggest moving the quest obout Oberon and his minions move to the Cats instead of outside.This would be more like SF not the UW.
